Ethernet connection dropping

    Ethernet connection dropping


    So my Ethernet connection keeps dropping. It doesn't just cut out and force me to find a way to reconnect, it's just tiny little disconnects that auto-reconnect almost instantly. I had trouble with the adapter turning itself off randomly when putting my PC into sleep mode overnight, but I think turning off "allow adapter to be turned off to conserve power" might have fixed it.

    My drivers and firmware are up to date, and I saw that one solution could be to turn Receive Side Scaling off, but after reading up on what it is it doesn't seem like something that should be off.

    Some help would be nice, because the disconnects are really annoying.

    I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium and my network adapter is Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller, though this also happens when using a wireless adapter.

    edit: this actually happens wireless as well.

    What are you connecting to? When using wired and wireless, is it to the same router, i.e. a WiFi router with ports on the back, or do you have two separate home routers?

    I have the primary router on one side of the house that's obviously connected to the modem. Router 2 is connected via ethernet cable to router 1, so it's serving as an access point, though it has a different IP and wifi name and whatnot. I'm plugged into router 2 via ethernet and also connecting to router 2 via wifi whenever I use it.

    Was this a typo, or do you really connect to router 2 with both ethernet and wifi?

    I mean when I used wifi, I used the network router 2 puts up. I do not plug in and connect to wifi at the same time.
