File sharing with multiple IP addresses

I'm having a bit of an issue with file sharing and multiple IP addresses on the same adapter. My primary static address is 192.168.16.11 with a netmask of 255.255.0.0. If I add a second static address of say 10.1.1.1 with a netmask of 255.255.255.0 it now becomes the preferred ip address and file sharing stops working.

If I do nbtstat -A 192.168.200.100 (a server) it goes looking on the 10.1.1.1 subnet. How can I change the preferred order or bind sharing to the other subnet?

How do you add a second static address?

Under properties for TCPIP v4 click the advanced button then add a second address. What makes you ask?

I have found less than elegant work around solution. A batch file that adds the additional addresses on startup.

Did you try going the other way around it to assign the IPs? I.e., first set the 10.1.1.1 and then add the class C?
