    Remote Desktop Connection problems

Hi, I have a few questions regarding Remote Desktop Connection:

    1. How safe is the local computer? Can it get infected if the remote computer is infected?

    2. When I access a remote computer of mine it's audio won't work. It says that there isn't any Sound Device even though the sound works when I access it locally. The remote connection somehow disables the sound completely (even though I haven't set it to). How can I fix that?

    3. Would it be possible to wake up the remote computer (and then use it remotely) via the Remote Desktop Connection?

    Thank you!

The RD connections onlt enables you to view or share your screen with another Computer (you knew that :) didnt ya)
    So no worries for Viruses.
    Now the issues with Sound,
Which RDP software are you using, Gotomeeting, Team Viewer, Logme in?/

sorry just saw the third question.
Yes it is possible to reboot or wake up the Computer using Remote desktop.
Depends which software are you using to do that.
Would recommend Team Viewer or Go to assist

    1. Well I tought I knew but I am able to copy files between the local and remote computer without a problem. So I guess it's not so safe since a malicious file could be transfered as well.

    2. I am using the Windows' own Remote Desktop Connection feature. And yes, I have the problem with sound, as I've described it above. Also the display is not as clear as it should be, text gets a bit distorted and hard to read.

    3. I am not using anything yet, I'm looking for suggestions on the WOL feature. How exactly could I wake the remote PC using the remote desktop? And I'm not using Teamviewer, I'm using the Windows' Remote Desktop Connection.

    Thank you a ton! :)

yes you can, so is the case with an Internet Connection or any other means of Communication. But I virus cant enter your system unless you are not sure what exactly r you copying.

    1. So, basically, the only way to get infected using RDC is if I manually copy an infected file over to my PC and execute it? There's no other way?

    2. I've read the link you provided but am not really sure what to do to fix the problem. What did you do, the registry thing?

    3. I'll go read that. I would like to wake a computer over the internet. I looked at the Nirsoft WakeMeOnLan but I think it's not suitable for WOL over the internet, sadly.

    Thank you for your help!
