Setting Permissions
Hello everyone!
This is my first post to this forum, I hope I get to hang around.
Well, I have a couple issues going on with Offline Files. Let's try to make it as easy as possible....
Say I have folder A in computer A (desktop). Folder A has many subfolders.
So I "make available offline" folder A in my laptop. Files sync, coolers.
I go to a coffee shop and when I go to open one of the subfolders but it denies me access, claiming I don't have permission. Although the permission in the desktop's folder A is set to Full Control for "Everyone". I have also right-click/Share/Homegroup Read/Write. So what I have had to do is go into Advanced Sharing, check the Share box. Now in the laptop I can open the folder, but many times it won't allow me to open files within it.
Anyway, this all has to do with permissions. Here's the kicker: I can set permissions for users within the desktop, but if I try to change the "Location" in an attempt to find my laptop and find my laptop's user-name, or even if I try to write a path, it can't find my laptop. If I click the Location button, only my desktop shows. Although my laptop is part of the Homegroup set up in my desktop and they are all connected through the same wireless network.
Ayayay, Microsoft make it easy!
Any idea how to tap my laptops domain so I can set a permission for my laptop user for the folder in my desktop?
Thanks!
