intel centrino wireless-n 1000 (Unable to connect) NO wifi

I just recently did a Windows update and somehow it destroyed my wifi connectivity. I have tried to do system restores back a few days prior to the update to NO avail. I have removed and re-installed or attempted to install the hardware and the software several times. I have downloaded Intel Driver Update Utility to help me install the drivers for the network adapter to no avail. I am not sure what happened but I definitely don't know how to correct this problem.

I have tried so many steps I can't even remember half of them. Most of the times that Intel has done a download, it comes back as Failed and then when I reboot laptop it says installation incomplete (or something like that).

Thanks for your assistance in advance.

That link pulls up the 32-bit download but I need the 64-bit download link. I will try to do another download if i can find the 64-bit link unless you have access to it faster than I can find.

Of the downloads I have tried, it keeps giving me the "download failed" screen

Maxie: WHAT A GEM you are!!! So much thanks to your assistance and your patience in working with me. How simple a fix it was after your link above. I am balder yet wiser now. I thought Intel support would have the answer but there it was via HP support.

    Again, many thanks.
