    Security Issues

I am wondering about some issues related to network sharing. I have a router which is set to a "Home" type network (to use my wireless printer with) and a regular connection ("Public" type) that is often connected to the WAN port on the back of the router but for performance i usually plug it directly into my computer. My issue is when i am connected directly to the network, I want all the public settings enabled (i live in a rez and my computer shows up to everyone else if it is not set to "Public"). However, if my router is on (all the time) and my computer automatically connects to it everything changes to the "Home" privacy setting and my computer is visible to everyone. Keep in mind that there is no internet through the router. Basically, connecting to my "Home" router (no internet) when connected to my "Public" connection changes all my settings to "Public" and opens my computer up to everyone in my rez on my "Public" connection. There is still a password to stop people from accessing my files but I would prefer if I just didn't show up at all. Any ideas?

PS. I know I could just turn off my router, which is what I have done, but that isn't the point.

I will try to answer your question, but I have to admit that I'm a bit confused as to what you expect as an ultimate outcome. You need to know that you can adjust your network behaviour independently of one another.....see attached. Turn off network discovery, file and print sharing and public sharing options to suit your needs. Hope this helps. Let me know.
