I cant download anything off the internet

Hi guys, I cant download anything even though i have a stable internet connection. Whenever i tried to download something through Idm it doesn't download. The downloads doesn't even start, it tries to connect but it doesn't succeed. Since i have a membership with an online movie stores im hoping to get some movies downloaded before my membership ends on the 18th this month. So this morning i called my ISP just to checked if they were blocking the downloads and the guy who took my calls took my id and checked to see if there was any fault on my account and he assured me that everything is fine on their end that they don't block any downloads or any websites. He asked me to try to download from another website, i went on a random website and tried to download a song, i did as he suggested and again it failed to start the download, only shows the ''connecting'' until it failed. Then the same guy from my ISP asked me to try to download through the torrent client, since i couldn't download the torrent client he helpfully sent it through my skype, he guided me through the process and after i managed to drag the small torrent file in the torrent downloader he asked me to start the download. again the download did not started. i checked in the info section of u torrent, 0 bytes downloaded 0 bytes uploaded. whats crazier is that my neighbor is using the same internet package from the same ISP and she can download she even invited me to see for myself. as for me i cant download anything not even a single jpg. I can browse fast and transfer large files like 455 mb via Skype in less than 2 minutes , My girlfriend Skype'd with me and there's no lagging nor stuttering at all. The problem started when i subscribed to 168 hours unlimited 50 Mbps high speed internet with my ISP. Then when my week was over i was automatically downgraded back to my unlimited 512kbs thats when the problem started. yeah i know its kind of slow but i used to reach 60 kBps and it was enough to download a song. Im not using WiFi btw

Check: Control Panel - Internet Options - Security tab - for Internet zone click "custom level" - scroll down to Downloads section and see if the two options are enabled. You can also try the reset option.

Try to bypass IDM for now. "ALT+clicking" the download link, and see if it will download. You can also cancel the downloads, cancelling twice should trigger a response from IDM offering to not use IDM to download that file etc.
Another thing to check would be Firewall software.

Hello Gokay, Thank you for your help, unfortunately none of your suggestions has worked for me, I have reset after analyzing the options in control panel, even though i bypass idm its still the same with the windows downloader. I have also disabled my fire wall, something must be interfering or directly blocking the download

Try Safe Mode with Networking and another user account.

Also; perhaps a setting on the router, check its security settings too.

I had the same problem once and I ran the programs below. I forget witch one helped me, so run all 4 of them.

Download RogueKiller from one of thefollowing links and save it to your Desktop:

    Link1 Link 2

    • Close all the running programs
    • right click on RogueKiller.exe, click Run as Administrator
    • Pre-scan will start. Let it finish.
    • Click on SCAN button.
    • Wait until the Status box shows Scan Finished
    • Click on Delete.
    • Wait until the Status box shows Deleting Finished.

download MalwarebytesAnti-Malware (MBAM) to your desktop.

Double-click mbam-setup-2.0.0.1000.exeand follow the prompts to install the program.

    • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to the following:
      • Launch Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
      • A 14 day trial of the Premium features is pre-selected. You may deselect this if you wish, and it will not diminish the scanning and removal capabilities of the program.
    • Click Finish.
    • On the Dashboard, click the 'Update Now >>' link
    • After the update completes, click the 'Scan Now >>' button.
    • Or, on the Dashboard, click the Scan Now >> button.
    • If an update is available, click the Update Now button.
    • A Threat Scan will begin.
    • When the scan is complete, if there have been detections, click Apply Actions to allow MBAM to clean what was detected.
    • In most cases, a restart will be required.
    • Wait for the prompt to restart the computer to appear, then click on Yes.

download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.

    • Close all open programs and internet browsers.
    • Double click on adwcleaner.exe to run the tool.
    • Click on Scan button.
    • When the scan has finished click on Clean button.
    • Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart.

download JunkwareRemoval Tool to your desktop.

    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • right-mouse click JRT.exe and select "Run as Administrator".
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.

    solved

Hey guys im sorry for not being able to reply this past few days, i was away on duty. Just got home earlier this morning and found my pc on my kitchen bar, i had left it at the repair shop and left them my friend's contact because i was going out of the country for work. i have just plugged everything and noticed that they have reinstalled windows 7 on my computer. which i was warned by the guy at the repair shop might be the only solution. I lost some stuffs but im glad that i have my downloads running again. most of the stuffs i lost are some movies i bought online, its no big deal, i have a decent internet package which i can use to gather everything i have lost, I just talked to my friend who went to collect my computer and he said that the guy from the repair told him that my computer was hit by some kind of virus that was just stealing my bandwidth and messing with the uploads and downloads. Sorry guys i wished that i had a more '' scientific'' or ''technical'' explanation about the virus but that's all i could gather from a person whose not a big follower of computers and Os's. Sven if only i had seen your thread earlier, maybe i wouldn't have to had my OS reinstalled A big thanks to you Gokay and Sven for their help and effort you guys are the best!! Bless you mates cheers....
