For steps 1 and 3 - use CCleaner instead. (WinThruster mentioned in the article may be different in the sense it may be trying to repair the error, CCleaner only cleans).
Step 4 - check your drivers manually, check the manufacturer's site.
Step 9 - a repair install may help before trying a clean install, ask us if it comes to this.
