How do I change WiFi settings in Windows 7

I have a Dell Inspiron Laptop with the DW1501 Wireless-N WLAN Half Mini-Card, Broadcom Virtual Wireless Adapter, and Microsoft
Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter. It used to either stay connected to my router or connect immediately. Now when I close the lid for even a short time, I have to click connect to reconnect to the router and it takes up to 30 seconds to connect. Any ideas what may have changed or what I need to do to fix it?

Try to restore defaults of Power Plan.
Option 1 - Power Plan - Restore Default Settings

If not, try re-installing its drivers.

it sounds like your laptop is trying to save power while you close the LID
    navigate to
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options
    from your selected plan click
    "change plan settings"
    "change advance power settings"

from there you will see various options
    wireless adapters settings, power savings
    power buttons and lid,
select the one you are most likely appeals your preference

    done!
