Dell laptop, onboard Wifi & USB Wifi nonfunctional

    1) Wireless connection issue. I believe wired works -- haven't tried lately -- but the major problems are wireless.

    2) ISP: XfinityWifi hotspots and/or in-house router sharing said hotpot.

    3) Conn type: Cable

    4) Router: D-Link DIR-651

    5) AV/etc: McAfee (out of date), MSE (not genuine anymore, thus disabled)

    6) ipconfig /all output included below.

    7) Xirrus wi-fi inspector: Downloaded on my desktop computer, USBdrived over to laptop, installed, run, screenshot attached. skmk is my in-house network; xfinitywifi is a bit too weak, but that's not the issue with this laptop.

Basic issue may well be an OS file corruption issue, as Dell support threw up their hands and suggested a clean Win7 install. Install repair hasn't helped.

Laptop is a Dell Latitude D630 or thereabouts, 4GB RAM, Win7 Pro 64, SP1. Onboard NIC is Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 AGN, 9/30/2012 driver v 15.3.1.2 from Intel.

Adapter is enabled, but fails to find any networks at all. Complete removal/redetection/reinstall of device makes no difference, nor do latest NIC drivers. Under Manage Wireless Networks, the "Add" and "Adapter properties" buttons do nothing, and under Network and Sharing Center, "Set up a new..." and "Connect to a network" are similarly unresponsive.

I also have a Belkin 54G USB wifi adapter, which works perfectly in other computers, but it too finds no networks in the laptop. Previously, after the onboard NIC went unresponsive, I could use the Belkin adapter only in one specific USB port, with a specific "Wireless Network Connection 2" name, and it would only find one specific SSID (skmknet) -- which was my home config before wifi went south. No new networks worked/work. (I recall running a utility at some point that informed me there were quite a few active networks within range, but couldn't give me any information about them.)

    Halp!

If wireless are enabled then perhaps check services.msc for WLAN AutoConfig (automatic - started). Your repair install should have taken care of this though so not very hopeful.

    Edit: also try uninstalling McAfee
