Can't detect any internet, network discovery off

I have tried to connect to USB modems and wifi though none will come up whine searching for networks to add. I had previously connected a wifi network some time ago and haven't changed any settings since then. Although network discovery in Home or Work and Public is turned off and I can not get them to stay turned on. I also had the Delta Homes search engine malware on the computer which has since been removed. As I can't connect to the internet (apart from my iphone) I am unable to download any anti software program's etc.

Network Discovery is about other computers etc not wireless connections.

Is the Ethernet cable plugged in? Try while it is removed as some wireless adapters disable themselves when a cable connection is detected. Do you get the wireless symbol in notification area now? If not run services.msc and check "WLAN AutoConfig" (Automatic and started).

I don't have an Ethernet cable plugged in. There is no wireless symbol in the notification area. WLAN autocomfig was set as automatic but when I clicked start and error came up.

"Windows could not start the WLAN AutoConfig service on Local Computer.

Error 1747: The authentication service is unknown."

I am signed in as administrator, there are no other profiles.

I managed to get some things working. I had NO FILES in my Winsock snd winsock2. I removed the files and downloaded the zipped files using my tablet. Transfered them over and installed. I then checked the network adapter in the device manager and enabled it. This allowed my wifi to detect the wifi connections in the area including mine (not the better 5g version though) I tried to connect but now have limited access. I have the current drivers. Still cant diagnose the internet connection problem.

What/where is this Winsock and Winsock2 you mention? Check network location (Home/Work/Public). Also did WLAN AutoConfig start after a restart after what you had done?
