IE11 has hopeless performance on VPN

G'day all,
Trying to setup a VPN (TorGuard), for a friend of mine, and after a lot of messing around I've managed to get reasonable results from Speedtest.net of about 19Mbps.

However, ever since the first day when I started on this project, I cannot get IE11 to load webpages quickly, and in many cases it won't load them at all. Yet if I shut down the vpn, and open IE 11 everything works fine. But the instant I go back onto the VPN, the painful page loading saga continues.

I've downloaded Google Chrome and it works fine with the VPN, a little bit of lag sometimes in loading webpages but, far superior to IE 11.

Now I know you're going to say, "so what's the problem?, ditch IE 11 and stay with Google Chrome!" But my friend happens to like IE 11 and because I've spent a lot of time and effort to try and get it to work, it's become a bit of a quest. However, I don't have the skills to know what tests to run to try and diagnose why IE11 operates so slowly when on the VPN.

So I'm hoping that someone here has encountered this problem and has a setting/s change or tweak I can use to resolve this issue.

thanks for the reply I've tried that and only have Shockwave Flash Object from adobe running in any case.

I've also tried Internet Options/Connections/Settings/Proxy Server and adding the IP address of the VPN server I'm connected to, after a suggestion on the internet.

Didn't do anything to improve page loading, and maybe the gurus would say it wouldn't in any case. But I'm prepared to give anything a go to get IE 11 to work. :)

Did you try un-ticking "Automatically Detect Settings" in the LAN settings page of Internet Options (same window where you set proxy)?

A marked improvement, still not as fast as Google Chrome, with Torguard VPN running, but useable now.

Thanks for the tip, any other tweaks that could help, would adding the IP address for the server the VPN is using to the Proxy, (as mentioned below be worth trying again?)

To be honest I am not sure :)

Shouldn't hurt to try though. Maybe someone else that is experienced with TorGuard can answer better.

Okay after doing this last tweak, I remember there's not much point to add a proxy as I tried before, as setting up a VPN as described below doesn't work! (and maybe it never would - A classic case of not really knowing what I'm doing. )

Initially, after reading the thread regarding adding a proxy to improve IE11 page loading, I tried the following:

Go to Internet Options/Connections/Add a VPN, but it gave me a modem error, but I was able to go to Settings/Proxy Server and adding the IP address of the VPN server I was currently connected to. Which I guess was never going to work as the VPN wasn't set up!

There's no point me contacting TorGuard over this matter, I've spent so much time trying nothing solutions with them.

So has anyone worked out how to get good page loading with IE 11 using Torguard Client VPN? If so would you share any tips you've used to do this please.

The tip from GokAy, has improved things, but as I said previously with the VPN running, comparing the performance of Chrome to IE11 is like chalk and cheese.
