    Hard time with samba

    Hello there,
I am using samba to in win 7 pro to connect to my linux samba server for a long time.
Recently, I installed SambaDroid on my mobile android phone, because I wanted to set a server there so I could access it from my pc. The problems started here. WHenever I try to map the network drive or access it through network devices panel i get the error message with code 0x80070043... No matter if i use ip address or server name for connection. I tried this and it didnt help:
samba share is not accessible from Windows 7 client...

The funny part is that I can connect to that server on a linux virtual machine hosted on that win pc. And second thind, if I manual type in the server address in the file explorer in windows (\\ipaddress), then it will access it! It wont when i use the server name though (ie \\SAMBADROID).

I mean, whats even going on here? I would really apreciate some help here in resolving the problem- which is being able to map this network drive.

    bremenpl,

I don't know if this will help, but I've been having a similar situation to you, where I could access my samba share via XP and Linux but not Win7 (or rather I could, but it was a bit on and off). You can map a network drive using the IP address you know, because I've just done it myself and 'temporarily' solved my issue.

Sorry, are you wanting to setup a 'server' on your phone? If so why? Forgive me if I'm not interpreting your post properly!
