    Netgear Router Questions

I bought a Netgear AC1750 C6300 Router and had a few things I would like to ask for anyone who may know a bit more about this specific one. This is it C6300 | Cable Modems & Routers | Networking | Home | NETGEAR

My internet service provider is comcast and I am limited by a monthly data cap. Is there any way I can view my data usage on my router? I have checked every single setting and page under my routers advanced settings and there doesn't seem to be anything of the sort. I have older modems and routers that are capable of viewing individual usage based on ip/device name and yet this brand new one doesn't seem to have anything of the sort. Comcast has a data usage meter but its very basic. it only shows my modem/router and a line that fills up. It doesn't display the specific device

My second question is if this particular modem/router is incapable of monitoring my data usage, what are some other options I could use? We have 3 PC's on Windows 7 and multiple phones/tablets/etc and having everything be monitored through the router would of been perfect. Are there any reliable programs I could install on the pc's?

    Any help is appreciated

thanks for taking the time to respond to my post! Unfortunately I am aware of how to check my data usage in my account. The problem with it is that it takes time (usually a day) to update plus it doesnt show specific devices.

Can't you get a service without caps. I certainly could not live with caps.

I feel the same way however, depending on where one lives, not everyone has unlimited data available to them or it is available only at an unaffordable price.

I have NetWorx installed on my computers. It's a free program that monitors how much bandwidth you are using and can even tell which service or application is using how much.

Another program, albeit not free, that will help manage your bandwidth usage is Softperfect Bandwidth Manager.

Thank you for the information. Networx seems to be working fine and does what I need. I'll mark the thread as solved.

I have not studied NetWorx but if it only tracks PC activity, then how to know if your phones/tablets/SmartTVs are the culprits? Apple in particular is notorious for giving users no control over when/how their iGizmos are updated, and some of their downloads can be over a gigabyte in size!

Does anyone here know if there is a way to set-up a PC that monitors all IPs at a location, i.e. that would I guess replace your router and insert between the LAN and cable modem?
