My laptop makes the home's WIFI modem drop connection

I have a Gateway NV59 laptop. My wife and I have separate laptops and we both connect to the home Vodafone HG553 modem, via wireless. I moved in recently, so my laptop is the new device.

Whenever I try to connect to the WIFI modem, the modem's red light starts blinking and I somehow make my wife's laptop disconnect as well. She has no problem connecting. It is only when I try to connect with my laptop.

Sometimes the red blinking light stops and I get connection (after 5-10 minutes). But, connection will go back and forth, dropping connection, connecting, connecting with no internet access.
    I updated my adapter drivers.
    Any help will be appreciated,

Hi & welcome to the Forum.

There are really only 2 ways you can do that. Read through this MS website as it explains it fairly well.

Sharing one Internet connection among several computers

Thanks for the help. We're still facing connection problems with my laptop.
We have a ADSL Modem, which I think is a modem/router.

When my wife wants to use her laptop, I need to log off. Otherwise, the modem drops connection and the red light starts to blink.

Have a look in the handbook on your modem & see if it is a combination modem router & if so, how to connect it up.

You could also contact your Internet provider & see if they can offer any assistance as well.
