DNS address keeps changing to 10.4.0.1

I have a rather odd problem.

Every few dats (it varies a lot), I can;t load any web pages. Thanks to a tip from Internet Explorer I identified that the problem was an invalid DNS server address. It keeps changing from "automatic" (IPV4 properties) to 10.4.0.1 Which does not work.

Now I had a browser infection which was intercepting searches and injecting adverts. Malwarebytes got rid of it, and this is happening without any sign of the search being interfered with any more.

But I am wondering if it did some damage that was not cleaned up. Is it possible to reset all aspects of my internet connection? Or perhaps someone can recommend an alternate malware program that might clear up any nasty debris.

    Thanks,
    Nick

    Hello Nick.

I would recommend that you read the posts in this thread about staying safe from malware and viruses:

And what happens if you give the computer a DNS server, for example many use the Google DNS 8.8.8.8 for preferred and 8.8.4.4 for alternate.

    Cheers, Boris :)
