Win Server 2k8 R2 RDP - Icons Missing Post Windows/Installer Mod
Hello,
So, I have been trying to resolve this for a while now to no avail. Perhaps somebody here can help? But let's recap so we're all on the same page.
For starters, this is a Win Server 2008 R2 Terminal Server. Domain users log in on a daily basis to access their profiles and workspace. The server was running low on HDD space, so I removed the content from the Windows/Installer folder (I backed it up first).
The next day, all icons were generic and white. Mind you, server reboots automatically at night. So, I reverted my changes (re-applied the content of the Installer folder) and the icons came back, but ONLY for administrators. Regular users still have issues, as is visible in the image below.
So, here's what I have done so far...
-Installed IconPackager to try and rebuild icons, then uninstalled
-Rebuild IconCache <<< This ".db" file does not exist for any of the user profiles.
-Delete the shellex reg entry to force the rebuild of the icon cache <<< this reg entry apparently doesn't exist
-Apply Full Control ownership of Installer folder to all domain users
-Ran sfc /scannow
But like I said, nothing works. Any ideas? Thank you in advance!
