Windows 7: Internet services crash sometimes on reconnect

Internet services crash sometimes on reconnect

The entire service/process for the internet on my system will sometimes become un-responsive for some reason. It requires a restart in order to remedy it. I'm using a wireless net-gear wnd4100 adapter. So what will prompt me reconnecting is I'll be in a Skype call then try to open a browser which will say unable to connect, so I open the internet thing in the taskbar notification area and disconnect and reconnect very quickly which in most cases solves the issue for my web browser without dropping my call. However I'd say one in ten tries ends up with the internet thing in the notification area becoming a small computer with a red 'x' and i'm unable to open network and sharing window without it locking up at which point I have to task list end it. Is this a known issue with an optional update to fix it or what? I run Avast and Malware Bytes Free Editions as well as use CCleaner to get rid of junk files and registry errors. I use Chrome with only secure settings and only venture to trusted sites. Both scans turn up with no malware/viruses so I'm wondering if it's just an issue with the networking drivers or some kind of bug. My wireless adapter's drivers are up to date straight from the manufacturer's support site.
