Windows 7: NET ID and NET Password

NET ID and NET Password

I'm using a PVR in the bedroom with WiFi N access to any PC on the Network. My iMac works fine and I can access movies etc from it but my Win 7 Media Centre PC in the lounge wants a Net User ID and a Net Password. Now I gather it means my Network ID which I setup by right clicking on Computer selecting Advanced settings and Going through the Network ID wizard which was the same name I gave the PC when I installed Win 7. But what Net Password are they talking about? I tried my PC (Administrator) Password but that didn't work.

NET ID and NET Password

Hi PCKid,

Did you ever get this problem sorted? I have a very similar situation, where I cannot get my Ellion 700 PVR to connect to my main computer after having upgraded to Win7 on it. It asks me for Net User ID and Net Password... I can access all the files on my main computer from other computers in the network, but not from the PVR... The PVR can access files from other computers on the network (running Vista) and from the NAS. I'm going mad here...!

Please anyone - HELP!

Windows 7

Has anyone got a solution to this problem.

I recently installed a new Window 7 machine and connected up a Noontek media player via a router.

I had no problems with XP but now find that I need a Net User ID and Net Password to log onto the network to accesss files on my PC so that I can stream/play them to my TV via the media player over the network.

I understand the the Noontek uses Samba.

I also have a TVIX 6200 and have problems with logging on via Samba but the Netshare program that was provided works OK.

Anyone help, I have tried all the passwords and ID that I can think of.
