Want to remotely access files on a NAS, easiest way?

So i am going to be away from home for a while, and am wanting to access files on my NAS while i am away. I am a beginner to networking, and have no idea what i need to do and what the best course of action is. If it matters, the primary file type would be .mp4. Should i setup a VPN with my router(PF sense, v2.3)? VPN through the nas (QNAP)? Or something entirely different? The router offers openVPN (Requires payment), IPsec, and L2TP, and i am currently trying to find the credentials for the NAS.

    EDIT:

The network with the NAS on it i have complete control over, but the network i would be connecting FROM is a work network that i wouldn't be able to modify the router settings on.

What protocols and file transfer options does the NAS normally allows? How do you use it normally?

If you are wanting to stream mp4s from your NAS, you could install Plex on your NAS then get a Plex client for your computer, phone, tablet (whichever device you wish to watch on).
