Did you install a known good Ethernet driver (aka NIC driver)?
It's usually supplied by the Windows install disc, but that can fail.
You should be able to get it at Dell.com by entering your service tag.
You should reboot a time or two and unplug your modem and let it try to find your ISP again after reconnecting it.

Dell 9010 with new Win 7 Pro install:
1) Can no internet connection be related to: this installed Dell-9010-related network-adapter-driver's "related-device" (1) Broadcom 57xx gigabit controller, 57xx driver, BACS comb-pkg, BCM95722 PCI-E NIC, 17.2.0, A08,
not showing up in device manager.
But this installed Dell-9010-related network-adapter-driver's "related-device" (2) Dell update pkg: 12xx/825xx gigabit platform LAN network device, 17.3.0.1 A06,
does show up in device manager.
Is there a conflict between the 2 ... Which one is supposed to be the main "network adapter."
My other PC a Dell 740 with XP Pro uses a Broadcom 57xx gigabit controller, as it's main "network adapter," which does show up in device manager.

Both of my PC's use manual IP-DG-SM settings ... Win XP IP (has internet access) : 192.168.1.2 and Win 7 IP (has no internet access) 192.168.1.3
Dell 740 XP-Pro PC is connected to the same Action-Tec wired-modem-router, has manual IP-SM-DG settings from way back and works fine, so I changed the Dell 9010's setting to manual too ...
Here are the settings: Dell 740 XP IP: 192.168.1.2 ... Win 7 IP: I chose 192.168.1.3 as the setting ... Default Gateway, Subnet Mask, DNS-settings, are all the same on both XP and Win 7 PC's. DG: 255.255.255.0 SM: 192.168.1.1 DNS: 192.168.1.1
I tried running the Win 7 PC by itself in the router, it didn't help ... Is there a ping test through the CMD-screen that can help ...

Dell 9010 with new Win 7 Pro install
Somehow not using the 1-WAN-Port on the Router and using one of the 4 LAN-Ports on the Router has now given access to the internet ...
2-days-ago: With no access to the internet, so no updates, the only drivers I downloaded from the Dell website and installed 2 days ago were the 1) Dell 9010 chipset driver and 2 network-adapter related drivers.
