reinstalled windows, pc cant use wifi, how to install adapters?

(typing and posting from dads laptop)So i recently reinstalled windows 7 ultimate i think? and i didn't backup my drivers and since i have had this pc for about 3 years and it gets moved along, the little things in the back for wifi have been removed due to extensive damage. Anyways I can't do anything because i can't use the internet. Can I download the installation software for the drivers on my flashdrive and then install it on to the PC? How do I know which drivers to install? Help?

    Hi Scapegoat,
    What
    Little things in the back??

Your lappy has a small chip >>inside<< with 2 snap on connectors for the aerial thats also inside the display part of the lappy.

Getting back to drivers, we need some details
Control panel >> device manager >> other/problem device >> properties >> hardware info
    Im after the pci/ven info
    (see screenshot)

Do you mean the connections for the Hard Wired Ethernet? Any built-in Wifi may have a switch for it on the front of the laptop. Did you wipe the HDD, if you did, you deleted the drivers - Especially if it's an HP or DELL, which have the drivers saved on the hard drive in a folder.

All you need to do is look up the laptop on the manufacturer's site. Note that there MAY be several different Wifi adapters in any given model. Dwonload all of the newest driver installers, save to a Flash drive, and install them One by One on the Laptop. Also, look for an "Fn" key near your Windows key on the keyboard, and also locate any key on your F1-F12 keys that have a cell-tower looking icon. Press "Fnn while pressing THAT key, and it will toggle your Wifi on if it is off.

If there is a physical switch on the front of the laptop, you want to press it so that it lights up, but the light might be near the Display. So look for any lights that turn on or off.

Oh yes, if you have Ultimate, it will say "Ultimate" while booting, or, just right clock on My Computer and choose "Properties" and that will bring up the System Info panel which will tell you. But it doesn't really matter that much which version you have. What does matter is if you have 32 bit or 64 bit versions, and the drivers will be offered sometimes based on that.
