How to Unjoin and then Rejoin a domain

I have a PC (windows 7 pro 64) that is currently the member of a domain (small office) running on a Windows 12 server essentials R2.

I want to unjoin the PC from the domain, do some tasks, and then rejoin the domain. The PC is not running Exchange.

Is this easy to do - I don't want to lose any of the settings.

    What is the best approach?

    Thanks,

Are you IT support? If not you should take it to IT. You really don't want to go down the road of messing with your company's computers. I'm going to give the same advise to you that I just gave another member but I'm too lazy to repeat it again so here you go. Startup Repair how to send info to Microsoft dialog

Only a member of the domain administrators group can join or rejoin a computer to a domain.
