A new network seems to have been created - how to undo?

Hi,
My network info:
Wired and wireless mix
ISP = Talktalk - in UK;
A VDSL 'fibre to cabinet' connection
Talk talk router
Kaspersky Internet Security 2017

Yesterday I had to disconnect my PC from the network to connect and set up an old router as a wireless AP. Now, having reconnected it to the original/main router, I find that I my home network has become 'network 2'. I don't suppose this would bother me much, but when I go to windows explorer, under the network directory, I can't directly access the file structure of a networked music streamer (NAS). How can I get rid of 'network 2' and put everything back under the orginal 'network 1'?

If it helps, I can access the software on the NAS, and it's working OK, I just can't see the files using 'Windows Explorer'.

I guess there may be other issues involved here that I just haven't noticed yet.

Any help gratefully received.

Ta.

Welcome to the forum putting in a old router will trigger windows to think you have connected to a new network. You can rename the connection any problems accessing anything is likely due to how you have set it up

Hi and thanks for the reply,
If it helps to explain further.
1)I have been using my talktalk router for months now.
2)I needed to set up a netgear router as a Wireless AP,
3)so I disconnected the talktalk router, and connected the netgear one.
4)Once that was set up, I reconnected my PC to the original talk talk modem/router.

But in 'Windows Explorer' I cannot see my shared drive listed as a networked drive - like I used to be able to.

Is there any way I can 'merge' the two networks, or go back to 'network 1'. Or, is there any way to add the Networked drive to 'network 2'?

Thanks

hi,
The netgear is connected by ethernet, via a switch. It does have dhcp disabled.

Also, because they are obvious things to try, I've rebooted the main talktalk router; rebooted the network drive I'm trying to access; and even tried disconnecting/reconnecting it from the router.

None of these have helped - I still have my PC on 'network 2', and no access to my network drive via windows explorer.
Thanks again.

Is the second router in the same IP range and on same subnet? Can you ping it?

Hi,
Yep - my primary router - the talktalk one is 192.168.1.1.

It's set to give out DHCP addresses from 192.168.1.10 - 254

I set the netgear one with a static IP of 192.168.1.5. I haven't "pinged" it, but I can log into its admin settings page using the 192.168.1.5 IP address, so I'm assuming all is fine there.

Thanks
