Windows 7: What To Buy Question, Please

What To Buy Question, Please

Would appreciate some specific brand and model suggestions for a simple home network. I know nothing about Routers, and have no experience with them.
Running Windows7 on a new PC.

Just two PC's in a house. The Windows 7 one, and an older one running XP.
Using Comcast Broadband.
One would be hard wired to the router, probably, and the XP other one via the wireless connection.

As rooms are pretty close, I am guessing I could get by with a G router, but if you feel the reliability, etc. of the new N are worth the price differential, I'll go for it.

Question: One thing I really need, at my age, is a simple configuration and setup, besides reliability. I read all the review on Amazon, and none of the brands and models seem to rate that high.

Seems like "everyone" has tales of woe, for all the mfg's. They all have: "configuration problems and setup difficulties, lousy customer service, really lousy customer service, unit lasting only a few months, overheating, dropouts every few minutes, etc."

So, can anyone suggest a brand and model that the consensus is among all you folks will work and be set up "easily", as I'm not sharp with this stuff frankly ?

Would really appreciate it, as I'm afraid to buy anything after reading all those Amazon reviews.

Much thanks,

Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Everybody has a horror story about an experience. And mostly it's just because these devices are made pretty cheaply and often just give up after a year or two.

With that said, I've been extremely happy with my Linksys equipment. I've had a BEFSR41 and a WRT54G2 for the past 5-6 years.

These devices are very simple to setup. Especially the hardwired computer. You simply plug it in and it works. With the wireless, you just have to setup the SSID on the router and the WEP/WPA key on the router and put the same thing on the wireless computer and it should connect.

I use G myself and haven't seen a need for a new N model.
