network adapter dead?

    the name doesnt show (2), but the name below does

    "Intel(R) Ethernet Connection (2) I219-V"

    What motherboard are you using? Asus Z170-A?

    Did you try it with only the wired connection? Unplug the USB adapter and set it aside.

    Google search for "connection failed with error 651"

    There might be a setting I haven't thought of.

    Error 651 - Fix Connection Failed with Error 651 in Windows - Geeks Gyaan

    i read up on this page and tried resetting the network stack with "netsh int ip reset reset.log" in cmd but it dodnt work.

    i also tried booting into safe mode w/ networking, toggling IVP6 and clearing CMOS but it didnt work either

    netsh int ip reset reset.log
    Is that what you typed in the command prompt?
    Have a look at this page: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...tshell-utility
    Click on "let me fix it myself" (half way down the page) for a more thorough explanation.
    Make sure you are using the command prompt as an administrator.

    yup, thats what i typed in the elevated cmd prompt

    i also tried downloading and running that tool but it didnt work

    Have you tried another cable? Have you tried the adapter in another computer?
