Windows 7: dual Ethernet ports (main system and VM)

Windows 7 Professional 64bit
dual Ethernet ports (main system and VM)

My motherboard has 2 Ethernet ports. i217 and i210, I have the i210 disabled in BIOS.
If I connect both ports to my switch, can I use one port for my main system and use the other port for my VM's?
Why? Just curious to see if it's possible.
