    Faulty network adapter?

    Hi,

my onboard network adapter has stopped working (not recognized by either Windows or BIOS cable test) after I installed a new graphics card. Is it possible that I damaged something on the motherboard (GA-870A-USB) in the process?

    Thanks.

Is it turned on in BIOS it's more likely it's conflicting with IRQ or address

Yes, it is enabled in BIOS. Unfortunately it doesn't work with the old GPU/custom IRQ either.

I even loaded BIOS defaults and reset CMOS and it's still dead. I guess I shorted it or something. Pretty weird, but apparently not impossible since it is a PCI-E component, as is the GPU.

Will have to buy a network card it seems.

Ok, installed a new network card with the chipset "Realtek RTL8111C" now. Gets detected and installed, device functions properly, lamp lights up orange (but not green)... but Windows says "No connections available". Is it possible that I shot the network cable as well, when the old adapter was destroyed?

    Thanks.

My cable had a break point. What a shitty coincidence for both the adapter and cable to break at the same time, for different reasons.
