Can open files on a shared drive but not edit/move them
Using Advanced Sharing, "Share this folder", I've set a drive (call it P:) on my desktop computer for sharing with Share Name P. Under Permissions, I've allowed Full Control for Everyone. On a networked laptop computer, I can see the drive and all its contents. I can open any file but when I try to make changes to them I get messages like "You require permission from Administrators to perform this action", or "Error saving document: Invalid access mode" or "Please check if this file is open in another program" [It isn't]. None of the files is set to read-only, and I *can* make changes from the host computer.
Even more perplexing, I've done exactly the same thing for sharing the laptop's P: drive, and using my desktop computer, I *can* edit/move/delete files on the laptop.
Why? With Permissions set to Full Control for Everyone, why do I have Full Control in one case but not the other?
