Windows 7: New VPN connection, no file shares available in network locations.

New VPN connection, no file shares available in network locations.

I recently added a windows 7 laptop to my network. I have the laptop configured to accept vpn connections.
I can successfully connect to the vpn. I can use the ip address in the web browser to see my ftp shares. I can ping all the servers on the network. I can remote desktop into the server and see the shares in the network locations.

For some reason the file shares don't appear in my network locations when connected to the vpn.
I can't figure out why. The permissions are set correctly.
