Connected to LAN but not to Internet

Hi,

I have recently acquired a used PC with Windows 7 installed, I plan to use it as a Media and PVR Server hence I would rather use Windows 7 than 10 because of the automatic reboots.

Since this morning I have been unable to access the internet on this PC but have been able to access the LAN with no problems. This happens both when part of an AD Domain and when separated from an AD Network and happens when connected to multiple ports on the network switch and when directly connected to the router.

I have set a static IP and static DNS options, as well as trying alternative public DNS servers - I have released and renewed DHCP and cleared ARP tables. It appears that I am unable to reach the gateway from this PC however there is no reason that I shouldn't be able to do so. When viewing the output of IPCONFIG /ALL everything appears as it should as far as I can tell. This information is included below.

The router I am using is a Draytek Vigor 2860.

I have searched for help on this issue and have found a lot of advice however nothing that has been suggested has helped me so far. I am looking for alternative solutions before I buy and test a new NIC to see if that fixes the issues.

If anyone has any advice or solutions to this I would be very grateful.

Thanks for your reply,

The output of tracert is:
Code:
C:\Users\locadmin>TRACERT 194.172.118.66

Tracing route to 194.172.118.66 over a maximum of 30 hops

  1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.130.1
  2 * * * Request timed out.
  3 * * * Request timed out.
  4 * * * Request timed out.
  5 * * * Request timed out.
  6 * * * Request timed out.
  7 * * * Request timed out.
  8 * * * Request timed out.
And continues on this way.

I have checked the log on the router and have seen this NAT session listed

Code:
LOCAL IP:PORT - #PSUEDO PORT - PEER IP:PORT - INTERFACE
192.168.131.1:0 - 0 - 194.172.118.66:0 - WAN1
I have also found that I cannot ping the Router from the Machine or the Machine from the Router, however the Machine is listed as a connected device on the router.

Thanks
Fred

No, tried resetting router to defaults and turning off all firewalls and security measures to be sure.

On a more positive note it has randomly started working again, no changed have been made since last reboot.

I will post back if it happens again - hopefully if it does I can gather more information about changes.

Thanks for your help,
Fred.

Have you tried other computers accessing the internet?

Replace the LAN cable, disable Firewall and Antivirus. If necessary, check your router
