A reboot fixes my Workgroup visibility. How to do it without reboot?

From time to time, I temporarily disable my NIC by going to "Network and Sharing Center" -> "Change adapter settings" -> (select LAN adapter) -> "Disable". I do this to prevent any network access to one of my computers for a while. When I'm done, I re-enable the NIC and most of the time, everything works perfectly from then on -- including being able to see other computers and their shared resource on my Workgroup LAN network.

However, every once in a while, the other computers/folders NEVER show up again under the "Network" desktop icon, no longer how long I wait. When that occurs, a reboot completely fixes the problem. But there are times when a reboot is unacceptable (for example, if the computer is working on a long task that can't be interrupted). In that circumstance, what can I do to force those other computers to be seen WITHOUT a reboot?

NOTE that this is an uncommon situation, which means that it's very unlikely some important setting is incorrect, such as the browsing master or other such setting.

    Thanks!
