After Disabling SMB V1, File and Print Sharing refuses to stay on.

    Windows 7 x64 Ultimate

I used these commands to disable SMB V1

    sc.exe config lanmanworkstation depend= bowser/mrxsmb20/nsi
    sc.exe config mrxsmb10 start= disabled

    Set-ItemProperty -Path "HKLM:\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters" SMB1 -Type DWORD -Value 0 -Force

After I do this, I cannot get file and Print sharing to stay on/ticked.

I've tried completely disabling windows firewall and rebooting and no change.

When I turn SMB V1 back on, the problem goes away.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks :)

    Hi Magoo,
Its a KNOWN consequence of dissablling SMB V1, the price you have to pay.
FIle and print sharing has it as a dependency.

have a read of this thread

There has been a lot of falsehood and rumour surrounding wannacry and SMB V1 in Windows 7. The truth is that, if you have a good, top-range Internet Security suite, wannacry will have been blocked from invading your computer. I run Kaspersky Total Security, update it regularly and it stopped wannacry dead. I even learned about wannacry from the Kaspersky 'Dashboard': -

Not sure about all manufacturers but I have HP's in my office and the following worked.

    On my HP printers:
I installed the latest firmware and under networking an improved SNMP setting was available.

    I disabled SNMPv1/v2

    Enabled SNMPv3

    Added an appropriate service account.

Was able to scan to PCs with SMBv1 disabled.
