Ethernet connection not being picked up when disconnecting from wifi

I have a hp laptop and im running wifi to connect to internet.

I thought i would try connecting the laptop to an ethernet cable at same time.

But i never see the icon change from wifi to ethernet.

I have updated the drivers but i need to update the ones that are showing as yellow exclamation mark.

The ethernet cable is in excellent condition by the way.

Can someone help me find the right driver pls?

    Until then ill keep looking

    Hi TechSeven,
open up the device manager > Ethernet controller
Right click >> properties >> Details >> scroll down to Hardware ID post the PCI/ven details.

Don't you have a wifi button? disable wifi, or to open wifi devices and disconnect the computer from wifi.

TechSeven - When you updated the Ethernet driver, did you install the chipset driver as well?

running HP assistant will update your drivers and get rid of the yellow exclamation marks

if your drivers are all good (from another post it looked like they were a problem), windows should prioritize ethernet over wifi. But if its not doing so you can manually tell it to do so with these steps

there is a wifi button, if i disable that, ethernet still does not work.

in the device manager, the ethernet controller comes up as yellow sign and pci device.
