    Permissions For User Not Everyone

I have several external hard drives attached to my PC running Windows 7 Home Premium. Every online directions for sharing these drives say I have to set Permissions to Everyone. I don't want that. I do not want my kids to have access to everything my wife does.

Under Advanced Permissions, I tried in earnest to find my wife's user ID and could not. The only IDs or names available are local to my machine only. I can share to "Everyone" but as I stated, I do not want that.

I want to share certain folders with my children.

Please assist or point me to the right instructions to do this.

I want to point out, I could do this in XP Pro without issues and it was fairly straight forward. Why did they insist on complicating Windows 7? And no I do not want to get Windows 8 or 10. I like 7 because it has all the drivers for this older laptop. I have a new tablet/pc with Windows 10. Ultimately I would like to access these files, photos, videos, etc. from any outside PC (username and password protected) and from my phone as well.

    Thank you.
