Strange problem with WIN 7 & NAS password prompt, NAS has No pass set.
System specs in profile.
I have been hunting for a solution to my problem for weeks, no luck.
My google FU is failing me on this one and I am about to lose it...
One out of 4 windows 7 machines in my home cannot access my LaCie Cloudbox NAS. All other devices, phones, game consoles, televisions and other media devices can connect without issue. But My new computer just can’t manage... The NAS does not require a user name or password, none were ever set. it is open to anyone on the network because it is simply used as a local cloud to stream and share media.
But for some reason my machine asks for a username and password when I attempt to access the drive over my network. As far as I can tell, every setting is identical to my other machines. But this one insists on using a username and password when none exists... I have tried everything I could find... and after all that, I have finally done a complete wipe and fresh install. So at the moment, I have completed all updates and installed Chrome and that’s it. And the computer still does not connect and prompts for the nonexistent log in info. So I assume there is some default setting in this version of windows that is the issue, but I have no idea what it could be... If I can’t find a solution I will end up just giving it away and getting a new machine...because that’s the only way to keep me from smashing it...
