    hello,

    I can't get on to the internet.

    I accidentally left my computer on for 10 day it was connected to the internet during this time, when I tried to use it after this period it was unresponsive. I had to do a hard reset at that point I had multiple issues. The PC has 7 HDD installed the first issue was I was getting an imminent HD fail message so i retrieved all my data and removed what I thought was the drive. Long story short another drive had lost its file structure so I removed this drive as well as I couldn't deal with that as I was getting random restarts this was due (I Think) to a 9 year old graphics card that was getting v.hot. I then replaced this and then I had a few issues with windows not booting stuck on the windows starting screen and black screen with mouse curses etc. I eventually ran this OS inside a spare dell P.C. and eventually got it sorted. I have lost track of the amount of of things i did but have got the system stable via various fixes and utilities I have installed to sort things.

    Another problem that I had was random hd partitions appearing on the OS drive originall 3 partitions I could go

    currently I am running the setup with 1 HD and the computer is running fairly well no rebooting, but the reason I'm here is I can't get on the internet.

    what i have tried to date to sort this is;

    remove the network adaptor restart and it gets found again
    updated the drivers
    reset internet protocols
    repaired winsock
    renew internet connection which gives error messages
    flush DNS & ARP cache

    I think it might be time for a clean install, but before I do I have posted here in the hope you can help.

    the solution offered may be more time consuming than just reinstalling the OS what do you think?

    best ehe
