Internet disconnects when downloading files, browsing sites seems OK

Hi, this is my first post and I already have a problem I bought a new (used) computer yesterday (Acer M3970), installed a new SSD and Win 7 along with drivers provided by the OEM. And ever since i've been having this strange problem with my internet connection. When downloading larger files >100MB through the browser, no matter which one be it chrome or opera or IE, it simply interrupts the download process - i have to click resume and it'll finish then or if it's even larger it can stop again. What's starnge is that when this occurs I can browse the internet and ping other sites (using -t) without any disconnects whatsoever

I've yet to update the drivers so i'll report back but maybe someone had a similar problem and already knows the answer. Thanks in advance.
