XP Sees but can't access Win 7; But Win 7 can R & W XP

I hate to bring this topic up, I know it's been beat to death. I have read a lot of posts, everywhere, on issues similar to mine, and have tried to make whatever changes were recommended. But I must be missing something!

I have a home network, 1 XP computer and a couple of Windows 7 computers. I want to share files between XP and Win 7. One Win 7 computer, e.g. CPU1, is the primary and contains the newest files. When I use any computer other than CPU1, I pull the file on cpu1. Periodically I copy all revised files on CPU1 to the other computers. CPU1 is also the computer that gets regular backup.

XP can see my data directories on CPU1, & CPU1 can see my data directories on XP

CPU1 can read or write to XP -- no problem here, yea!

My problem is: when on XP I click on the CPU1 directory + sign nothing happens, when I click on the computer name I get the message that it is not accessible and I might not have permission.

Any suggestions as to what I must be missing?

Here are the settings:
XP Settings
Workgroup name: workgroup
Individual Directories, Properties,Sharing: both boxes checked under Network sharing and security
File Manager/My Network Places/Entire Network/Microsoft Windows Network/Workgroup: see the Win 7 computer

Windows 7 Computer
Homegroup name: workgroup
Individual Directories, Sharing with: set to Specific People, Everyone, Read & Write
Network and Sharing Center/Advanced sharing settings: discovery, file and .., Public .., Homegroup ..., all turned on; Password ... turned off

Edit - more info
No passwords required on any computer during boot or accessing another computer on home network.

Win 7: under Local Area Connection Properties both tcp/ipv6 and tcp/ipv4 checked.
XP also shows tcp/ip enabled.

Homegroup needs ipv6 and can't be seen by XP. Is NetBIOS running on all PC's? The simply way is to have the XP username and password the same as an account on 7

XP - 32bit

Ok, it now seems solved. I went to Network and Sharing Center/Advanced sharing settings/Homegroup connections. I had this set to "Allow Windows ..." and changed it to "Use user ..." then saved and rebooted. I can still access the Win 7 computers and the XP computer, and the XP computer can now read the Win 7 machine.

Thanks a lot!
