Unknown Network when no Gateway available

Hi everyone! I'll try to be as much clear as I can !

My job is to install publicity LED signs. These signs come from China and it's kind of tricky.

To configure it I have to set an IP in my NIC that will be in the same subnet that the sign.

To communicate with the I need my network to be fonctional but here's the problem... Since there's no router, Windows try to find a gateway and, since he can't, all I get is Unknown Network... Then I can't connect to the sign...

The actual workaround is to bring a router up in the air with me in the sign.

There is also many other factors that I can't explain here but basically the way I work right now is the only way possible because of these factors...

So what I'd like to know is if there's a way to avoid Windows to do this Gateway availability check and just make my network fonctional ?

PS as you can see my first language isn't English but French so sorry for any mistakes !! :)

    Thanks

Welcome to the forum. Try setting the gateway to 0.0.0.0 see if it works
