    This computer can't connect to a homegroup. Homegroup is not ready yet

    This homegroup issue is giving me a headache. I've been trying to fix it for a day and a half now on this website and others.

    I have a PC connected via Ethernet cable and a laptop connected wirelessly. I am trying to join a homegroup I created today on the laptop. However, I previously (years ago) created a homegroup on my PC.

    MY PC WILL NOT LET ME CONNECT TO A HOMEGROUP. I've tried everything I've found over the internet. This is a good summary of everything I've tried and it still does not work: Ultimate Troubleshooting Guide for Windows 7 HomeGroup Connection Issues

    But, I can not get passed this error message preventing me from joining the homegroup. "This computer can't connect to a homegroup."

    ! Homegroup is not ready yet. Please try again in a few minutes. If this message continues to appear, click the link to start the HomeGroup troubleshooter.

    I did the troubleshooter and it said that the windows firewall is not configured properly but then it didn't fix the issue for me.

    So, I turned off my windows firewall and AVG virus protector just incase it was that and it changed nothing. I've tried everything suggested in the above tutorial and I'm running out of ideas. Please help me.

    My goal is to share the files from my PC to my PS4 but at the moment the PS4 only sees the laptop. I'm guessing that's because media streaming is not turned on. I click to turn it on but it just turns grey for a second with an egg timer pop up and then returns to a deselected state.

    If anyone can help it will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you very much in advance. I hope someone can help

    Homegroups are a pain it's simpler to just use normal workgroups homegroups needs ipv6 to work which can give problems as its just for Windows have you got ipv6 running?

    How can I tell if it's running? How do you set up a workgroup? Can it allow me to share PC media with my ps4? Thanks.

    Thanks Samuria you lead me to think outside of homegroup media sharing and I found Plex Media Server. I've got all my files from my PC on my PS4 now. Most of the credit goes to Dan Plummer for this brilliant guide;
