Weird Behavior Between Explorer Windows ???

Often, in Explorer, when I connect with another machine on our network, I may open a second Explorer window so as to do some drag-and-drop of files from one window to the other; however, although I am definitely connected with the other machine in the first Explorer window, try as I may, and refresh to a fare-the-well, I cannot get that machine to show up in "Network" in the second (or third or fourth) Explorer window.

Also, along the same line of thought, although all four machines are awake, alive, and well, it is a rare day indeed when they all four appear among the network choices on all four machines.

What am I doing wrong ?

Thanks for reading.
