    Localization of Wifi source

    Hi,

I have a maybe theoretical question about Wifi.
Is there a way (I can also use) to localize the source of a wifi signal in a 3D environment?
So that I know where/ in which room in a house the router / access-point is located.

    KR,
    Paul

Is this so that you can track down where the router is when you are in a building other than your own residence, such as when you are at a customer site?

This would be a very useful tool to have if you do field computer work.

    Here's your answer: https://www.technipages.com/how-to-f...ireless-router

Basically, you install InSSIDer on your laptop, then you use it to home in on the router by using its signal strength monitoring feature. This program shows you that the signal is getting stronger or weaker; you keep moving in the direction of the signal getting stronger till you find the router / access point.
