I can't share files on 2 computer on my WiFi Network
Hi guys.
I know this problem has been talked about many times on a forum search, but I don't see any solutions that will correct my problem.
This is going to be a long first post as there is loads of settings.
I have 2 computers on my BTHub5-KGFP WiFi Router Fibre Optic. The main Windows XP and my Windows 7 32bit laptop. I've recently rebuild both computers because on annoying problems (that with be a new thread if anyone is interested).
Windows 7 rebuilt no problem. I use Network icon in the systray which finds WiFi connections. My BTHub5-KGFP is listed so I put in my password all done.
I know from the last rebuild what I have to do to share folder/files with Windows XP. You right-click on a folder check properties. On the Sharing tab click the Share button and type in Guest and the text box the Add. Hold your mouse over Guest and tick Read/Write. Do the same for all folders you want to Share. I Share the same folders on Windows XP.
If I look in Network it shows the BTHub5, My Win 7 computer name, My Windows XP computer name. If I double-click on Windows XP
Windows cannot access \\computer name
Check the spelling of the name. Otherwise there might be a problem with your network. To try identify and resolve a network problems click Diagnose.

Make sure that the device or resource (computer name) allows incoming connections for File and Printer Sharing.
My Windows XP can access folders on Windows 7. I setup the HP WiFi printer and did a test print.
Network and Sharing Centre - Home network - Change Advanced Share Settings
Turn on File and printer sharing - ticked
Public folder sharing
Turn on sharing so anyone with network access can and write files in the public folders - ticked
Even though I don't want public sharing, I've ticked and unticked it make no difference
Network and Sharing Centre - Wireless Network Connection Properties
Qualcomm Atheros AR9485WB-EG Wireless Network Adapter - Settings
Client for Microsoft Network - ticked
QoS Packet Scheduler - ticked
File and Printer Sharing Microsoft Network - ticked
Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) - ticked
Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) - ticked
Link-Layer Topology Discovery Mapper I/O Driver - ticked
Link-Layer Topology Discovery Responder - ticked
Other thread on here talk about removing Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6). Rather than uninstalling does un-ticking it remove it from service?
Network and Sharing Centre - Homegroup
Its showing connected. If you click on any folder. The Share with shows Homegroup Read/Write, Specific people shows Administrator, me and Guest.
If I leave the Homegroup and restart the laptop. Windows Explorer still shows The Share with shows Homegroup Read/Write, Specific people shows Administrator, me and Guest. How can the Homegroup still be showing if I've left the Homegroup?
Anyway Homegroup or no Homegroup I still can't access the folders on Windows XP.
I've started to make text files and problems on my computers with all settings so when I rebuilt I can put the same settings back, as they worked before.
Oh I forgot to say both computers on set on WORKGROUP.
Any help on resolving this accessing folders will be much appreciated.
