why my computer name adds a domain.name with the name of the computer?

Hi, I am a lilttle bit confused. When i see the dhcp server settings, i find a domain.name in the name of the dns server, which is also getting reflected in the scan details of avast in the device name. Is there anything wrong. I am having problem of modem resyncing on every shutdown and log on.
I do not have any domain.
I am having a computer and ethernet connection, and thro the wifi modem getting wifi connections to the connected devices.
Are those connected devices would mean domain? I do not have a server connecting two or more computers. If i type set user in command prompt, i get userdomain as the name of the computer.
Note: My dsl and internet light gets disconnected on every shutdown and log on
Is that domain means connected computers to a server. I do not have any server

    Hi, Sir,
I tried that, but i get error invalid characters. If i keep the domain.name blank also ,i get the same error.
How to check i have selected domain. In computer properties, the computer name is given, but no domain. Instead there is Workgroup. It is confusing. when i click network id , which says, to select business or home. If i select home, it asks me to reboot to effect the change. But , when i again click, it shows the radio button on business.
I am having home computer , and thro wifi modem, using wifi connections.
By the By, there is a field called NAPT, It is default unchecked in channel configuration, where we put vp1 vc1 etc. please say, should i enable or not.
