How Can I Share Windows 7 Files with Windows 10 without a Homegroup?

I recently installed Windows 10 on my HP Elitebook 8460p laptop but have several other computers that still use Windows 7 .
Can someone tell me how to access the drives and files on Windows 7 from Windows 10 now that Windows 10 does not have homegroups?

The old workgroup still works so you can browser for shares then connect or connect via cmd line. Have you set shares up?

That is what I use - the "old" workgroup. Do NOT waste yer time with Homegroup. I spend DAYS and it never worked. I have a Win XP, Win 7 and Win 8 box all working together fine. I print to a Printer hanging off the Win 7 box.

Just Share the directories you want to share.

Just use normal file sharing, the very same introduced in Windows 95 and still available.
Homegroup is just an inferior alternative in every regard.

I have two computers running Win 7. When they were both running XP, there were no problems with sharing files. Now when I try to move/copy files, I get the message: "you need permission to perform this action." Also, even though both computers say that they are members of a Homegroup, neither...
