Homegroup password problem

My Windows 7 computer is confirmed to belong to a homegroup. However, I am unable to view or print the homegroup password. I am also prevented by Windows from leaving the homegroup. The troubleshooter reports initially that either PNRPsvc or p2pimsvc is not running. It apparently fixes this but reports that it cannot start the Peer Networking Grouping Service. When I try to start this it reports Error 1068 – ‘The dependency service or group failed to start’.
