Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit
VPN as unidentified, tried tutorial here w/o success

W764 Ultimate running a home, private network, which is identified correctly as such.

However, when I start my VPN client, that network shows as "Unidentified". I used this tutorial more than once without success, then ran the reg for it and rebooted just to triple check. The properties for Unidentified Networks are configured properly for private, but still Windows shows it as unidentified.

Did ipconfig /all and I noticed there is no default gateway for the TAP (VPN) network adapter, and I read somewhere this is the problem but I am not network literate and don't want to manually assign it the wrong gateway (in the adapter Properties options) and screw up the VPN's security.

This is my home laptop and never gets connected to an insecure, public network. Only home. Any help would be appreciated. TIA.

EDIT: I also tried creating a new DWORD (*NdisDeviceType) with value (1) in reg key as described in many forums like this one with no success.

EDIT#2: Well I guess I have egg on my face. In the Windows FW it does indeed classify both networks as private, "home and work." I'd prefer both to be home, but at least they are both private. Does anyone know though, how I can change it from "unidentified" ??
