Setting up Network with share options
My Windows 7 system had a primary hard disk failure; the seconddisk was okay. A new disk was installed and Windows 7 professional installed onit.
So I have
Disk 1 with Partition C containing Windows and programs andPartition P containing Data.
Disk 2 with Partition D containing programs andPartition N containing Data.
There is an external disk with 3 partitions, R, S and T allcontaining data.
I have a laptop also running Windows 7 Professional and this hasa single disk with 2 partitions; C containing Windows and programs and Zcontaining data.
I am using a TP-Link wireless Router.
So, I am trying to rebuild the network. I can connect to theInternet from either computer.
I can access the folders on the 3 partitions R, S and T as Ihave been into "My computer" and set up the share option. But Icannot set up share for partitions P and N. Well, I can set up the share option(with the option that password is not required) but when I try to access thefiles on these two partitions I get the message that I do not have permission.
Strangely I can "map network drive" and choose the folder "users" on both computer and laptop and I can access these two folders from either computer or laptop.
I even tried to set up another partition (U) on the external HDD and create a folder with one file and tried to set up share on this folder but it would not allow me to access it.
So, I am running out of ideas and would appreciate any suggestions or help please?
