    How to add MS Loopback adapter?

    Hi folks!

    Am in need to add MS loopback adapter.

    Never did it before in Vista, but in XP I was supposed to use the "Add Hardware Wizard" in Control panel.

    In Win7, I beleive I have to go into "Devices and Printers" and click on add device, but it dosent work. It keeps searching for devices and nothing ever comes up!

    So, if anyone knows how to install it in 7, please help me out!

    Any help greately appreciated!

    Thanks for your time!

    Question: Where is the add hardware wizard? I cant find it! Searched all through control panel and all I could find was "Add Device" in Devices and Printers; and as I said before, The wizard gets stuck at "Searchig for Devices" and dosent move ahead!

    Why cant I add hardware from Device Manager? It would hardly be a Manager if I can't add devices!

    hdwwiz does not exist

    Hi all,

    I am also in need of a loopback adapter. Having tried the suggestion above: "start/search/hdwwiz" doesn't work for me. In fact, I cannot find any hardware wizzard of any kind.

    Any suggestions anyone? Tx in advance for your help.

    No, nothing is connected via USB. The loopback connector will be used to connect to the IIS Web Server so that I can do web development & test my work without the need for a proper network connection.

    I managed to solve my problem as follows:
    * Go to Control Panel
    * Select Hardware & Sound
    * Select Device Manager
    * In Device Manager, click the Action menu and select "Add legacy hardware"
    * Select "Install the hardware that I manually select"
    * Select "Network adaptors"
    * Select "Microsoft" under the Manufacturer list, then select "Microsoft Loopback Adapter".

    I hope this helps whoever is reading it.

    Or just type in "device m" in the start menu search box, @Ramkat. Could also just type it into the control panel search box.
